Services Offered by Affiliated Agencies

Centers for Independent Living (CILs)
Empowers Virginians with disabilities.

Community Rehabilitation Programs (CRPs)
There are over 85 community rehabilitation programs (CRPs) throughout the state of Virginia who have vendor relationships with the Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) to provide an array of employment related services. The organizations, known by DRS as Employment Services Organizations (ESOs), operate primarily for the purpose of providing employment and vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.  You can view ESOs by region, products and services offered and also through the Interactive Map feature, which lets users select ESOs by clicking on regions of the state.

Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI)
Enables blind or visually impaired individuals to achieve their maximum level of employment, education, and personal independence.

Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS)
Collaborates with the public and private sectors to provide and advocate for the highest quality services that empower individuals with disabilities to maximize their employment, independence and full inclusion into society.

Personal Assistance and Nursing Home Outreach Services (PANHOS)
Managed by the Department of Rehabilitative Services, Personal Assistance Services (PAS) Program administers services to consumers with physical disabilities who require assistance from another person to perform non-medical activities of daily living. Nursing Home Outreach Services provide specialized services to consumers with disabilities who live in nursing facilities across Virginia.

State Independent Living Council (SILC)
Represents people with significant disabilities across the State of Virginia and the interests of Centers for Independent Living.

Virginia Brain Injury Council (VBIC)
Ensures that individuals with brain injury have the opportunity to achieve the quality of life of their choosing.

Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS)
Improves the quality of life for people with mental disabilities and substance abuse problems by providing the very best services possible, at minimal burden to the taxpayer

Family Access to Medical Insurance Security (FAMIS)
Virginia's program that helps working families provide health insurance to their children.

Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
Includes information, from all parts of HUD's web site, pertaining particularly to people with disabilities.

Low Vision Information Center (LVIC)
Helps people with low vision maintain their independence (non-profit organization).

Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS)
Provides information on a system of high quality comprehensive health services available to qualifying Virginians and their families, including Medicaid.

Virginia Fair Housing Office/Housing and Disabilities
Provides information on the General Assembly's ruling to add handicap as an additional protected class to Virginia's fair housing law.
